k, so we're all back on campus again!  well, not really 'cause Jen is doing her student teaching and she's living off campus.  BUT we ARE back together!  woo hoo!  we had our reunion show (not really) at the Back-to-Campus Coffee House in the cafeteria.  It was an acoustic show, so it was pretty interesting.

Well, we will be playing at the Wilson Coffee House on Thursday, September 2nd 2004 (that's 9/02/04 all you non-Americans).  We practiced the other night and came up with nifty arrangement of our originals AND picked some sing-along covers to play.  So you should all come and sing with us!

see you guys there!  smile 'cause God loves you!

we never posted the lyrics to Lose Control...  Well, here it is!!!

LOSE CONTROL

Close your eyes, hold your breath
We are starting over
Plunging right to the depths
Where I'll take your hand
Hold me now, don't let go
Draw me ever closer
Trust me now, where to go
Is drawing ever closer now

If my feet start to fail
Will you carry me now
If my legs grow too weak
Will you take my hand
When the light has grown dim
Will you strengthen my eyes
When my heart truns away
Is there one more try?

Now, can you feel my heart pound
Can you feel the flow out
Can you make the days count
Can you lose control
Can you feel my heart pound
Can you feel the flow out
Can you make the days count
Can you lose control

Wake up now, rub your eyes
Start your whole new life now
Take a breath, take a step
Feel it burn inside
Don't look back, don't stay close
Take a chance to fly now
Don't hold back, let it go
Say your last good bye now

Can you feel my heart pound
Can you feel the flow out
Can you make the days count
Can you lose control
Can you feel my heart pound
Can you feel the flow out
Can you make the days count
Can you lose control

aight, so there hasn't been much updates lately...  well, the band has met today to practice.  Well, without Dan, who is in Florida.  We miss you Dan.  We're playing at Phil's church in Rockford, IL on Sunday.  It's gonna be an acoutstic set.  Here's the set-list:

Lose Control
Open the Eyes of My Heart
In the Secret
Better is One Day
Lord, I Lift Your Name on High
You Are My All in All
Nothing But the Blood of Jesus

Lose Control sounded pretty good acoustic.  All three men will be playing the guitar and doing "can you hear my heart pound~" for the song, and Jen will be singing and playing the piano here and there.  James and Ian will be playing the guitar and singing for Open the Eyes of My Heart through Better is One day, Faith will be playing the violin, and Jen will be singing and playing the piano here and there.  James and Faith wil be playing the guitar and singing for Lord, I Lift Your Name on High and You Are My All in All, Ian will be playing the bongo, and Jen will be singing and playing the piano here and there.  James will be playing the guitar, Jen will be playing the piano and singing, and Ian and Faith will be doing interpretative dancing (aka liturgical moving) for Nothing But the Blood of Jesus.  You should have seen them at practice.

On Tuesday, we will be playing at this Youth Group festival thingy in Champaign/Urbana, IL.  I guess we have HOURS to play music, so we're gonna be playing A LOT of songs.  Here are some possibilities:

Christmas Songs:
Jingle Bells
We Wish You A Merry Christmas
God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen
O Come, O Come Emmanuel
Little Drummer Boy

Originals:
Trust, Not Fear
Lose Control
Daughter of Zion

Covers:
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
3 Small Words (from the movie, Josie and the Pussycats)
Undo Me (Jennifer Knapp song)
Forever (punk rock version of Chris Tomlin song)

Worship Songs:
Lord, I Give You My Heart
God of Wonders
Give Us Clean Hands
Here I Am to Worship

We're thinking about doing the acoustic set again.  So, what do you all think about us playing Christmas songs in August???  Funky eh?

We're also playing in Detroit, MI (Ian's hometown!) on August 8th!  That's gonna be our first out-of-state show!  I'm really excited about that.

Well, let us know if you want us to come and play at your home, church, school, grandma's, whatever.

oh ya, we also went to Buffalo Wild Wings tonight 'cause it was 50cents legs Wednesday!  Jen ordered Buffalito and the men ordered legs from EVERY SINGLE FLAVOR!  That was crazy.  We wanted to take a pic, but we forgot to bring a camera, so we'll do that next time.  Maybe you can come join us too!  We also played this trivial game and VABS (aka Vrettos, Amano, Buck, Simkins) got first place!  woo hoo!

I hope you're all having a blessed summer!

God is good.

The Battle of the Bands on Saturday was crazy super fun. We actually won! Whooda thunkit eh? Mucho grande props to every band that played, everyone was fantastic. Huge thanks to Sarah and Road Trip ministries and the ridiculously amazing Oswego High School building for hosting the event (seriously this school was unbelievable) Our amazing brothers in Mending Chaos announced that Sat was their last show as the Mending Chaos and explained that they will be taking time out to start over with new material as well as a new name, so definitely be on the lookout for that, because they just plain rock that hard.

On Thursday we had the pleasure to lead worship for a youth group in Lombard. It was a really good time of worship, plus Angie sang with us. It was just all around good times. Plus Faith, James and I , along with other leaders, sat on a discussion panel and answered some of the questions about Christian faith and life that the students inquired about. God showed up for sure.

I don't know how many people actually read this, so I won't be devastated if no one comments, but I think we might take on another theme song to try and cover, so if any of ya'll have suggestions, do drop them on by (i.e. reading rainbow, power rangers, etc...)

We're gonna be working on some new stuff in the weeks to come, so we, as always, appreciate your prayers for us that God would truly use us for the ministry that He intends. I sincerely with all my heart thank you friends for being willing to remember us in your prayers. They are both appreciated and felt. God bless everyone of you, you bless us very much.

Lollipops,

-Ian
